Welcome to a new edition of Musical Disclosure. This week, we're talking about one of the most established and well-known bands in our city's music scene, Subsonica.
Icons of the alternative music scene in Turin, Subsonica made their debut in the summer of 1996, thanks to the ingenious ideas of Max Casacci, Davide Dileo, and Samuel Romano. The lineup expanded with the addition of Ninja and Pierfunk, musicians who were already part of the session player circuit for artists like Loredana Bertè and Ornella Vanoni. The official debut came in 1997 with the single "Istantanee," a preview of the self-titled album. 1998 was a whirlwind of successes with a hectic Italian tour and triumphs with singles like "Cose che non ho," "Radioestensioni," and "Preso blu."
In 1999, the single "Colpo di pistola" was released from the acclaimed album "Microchip emozionale." This year also marked the departure of Pierfunk, replaced by Luca "Vicio" Vicini on bass. In 2000, Subsonica participated in the Sanremo Festival with "Tutti i miei sbagli," securing the eleventh position. The subsequent single, "Discolabirinto," gained prominence with a cutting-edge video, a collaboration with Morgan and Bluvertigo. 2002 shone in the music scene with the release of "Amorematico," an album filled with prestigious collaborations and the success of "Nuvole rapide." The peak of this golden period was the well-deserved recognition at the MTV Europe Music Awards as the best Italian artist.
Today's listening is "Discolabirinto." Enjoy and have a good viewing!
