The PERFORM School of music has also recorded several variations of the exercises proposed in the books, allowing a more in-depth study than that required for passing the exam.
The aim of our institute is to train students and push them to deepen the topics covered, even with digressions that go beyond what is strictly required for any certification obtainable by examination. For us, the exam is not an objective, it is a consequence.
In this section, you will be able to see the didactic videos to support the study of the various Grades.
The exercises performed include those reported in the books of the RSL awards and therefore those required in the exam. But not only.
IMPORTANT: The video material in this section is just a way to support dedicated to the technical aspects of the instrument.
The student will still have to study all the topics covered by the teachers and which can be summarized in the following macro-areas: performance, technical exercises, sight-reading, interpretation & improvisation, ear-test, general music knowledge.
For the advanced level, stylistic studies and quick study pieces are added.

TECHNICAL EXERSICES
INFO
TIPS
The Technical exercises section will support the preparation of the required technical exercises through the use of videos.
The executions reported in some cases will provide additional examples to the questions asked on the day of the exam.
The videos include, in many cases, extra performances than those reported in the exam books.
We remind you that the preparation is much broader and that obtaining the certified title is only part of the path that the student carries out at the Perform School of music.
The student who has access to this page will still be able to see some of the videos of the different Grades from the one he is facing during the academic year.
Getting involved is fundamental, both in the lower and higher Grades.

SIGHT READING
INFORMATION
TIPS
The Sight-reading section will provide a series of short bars with different rhythmic cells to be played and recorded after only 10 seconds of viewing, as explained during the online meetings. At least three must be registered per week.
This section should not be underestimated, neither by drummers nor by other instrumentalists. Much less from the singers.
Mastery of metronomics and rhythmic perception is essential both during ensemble classes and during free improvisation.
Talk to your teacher: this section can have multiple applications, if properly used by associating mixed exercises with melodies and harmonies.
These are immense resources if properly used.

EAR TEST
INFO
TIPS
The Ear-test section will provide a database of short audio files to be transcribed after only 2 plays, as explained during the online meetings.
At least three per week must be written for Beginner grades and up to 10 for Advanced Grades.
The Ear test section during the exams is the part in which the greatest difficulties are encountered. Very often pupils lose most of the points in this section.
Regardless of the study aimed at passing the exam, it is important to understand the practical importance of this section.
Very often is one of the sections missed by the students. On the contrary, it would be the one to do from the first weeks.
The suggestion is to do a few, but every day. The ear must be educated, you cannot think of obtaining the same result by doing 30 or 40 in two hours and abandoning it for days.
